FWIW, I kept a pair of basically NOS 421-8H up in the attic from 1970-2000 where the temp can peg a thermometer and rather surprisingly there was only minor goop thickening around the gasket perimeter, but the Styrofoam was bonded to the frame enough to require running a sharpened putty knife around the joints to pop them off.
The cones had sagged enough that it took baking face up for awhile out in Hotlanta's Summer heat to drop them back down. Since then they've been 'closet queens' and still weren't too badly offset or stuck to the Styrofoam a few years ago. Guess I need to check them again.
WRT the boxes they're stored in, they are 515B boxes stamped 10-02-03, yet have the more modern lettering style without the Lansing suffix, so have to wonder if those are the correct boxes for the components. Plus, if they've never been used, why is the 416 label heavily scuffed?
Oh well, not my 'problem', I just wish I'd taken advantage when a local offered me this same set, like new looking except used for $375 total back in 2000 and tossed them in the closet too.............
